If we're being honest, nothing has been the same since the Duke of Hastings told Daphne Bridgerton, "I burn for you," in season one of Bridgerton.

But Regé-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor are hardly the first pair of onscreen TV couples who've made us swoon. From Kerry Washington's chemistry with Scandal costars Tony Goldwyn and Scott Foley to Friends' David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston and most recently, Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie in Heated Rivalry, these actors understood the assignment so well that their fans wanted their on-screen relationships to transfer off the screen.

Below, check out these 12 on-screen TV couples whose on-screen chemistry was so intense that fans shipped them in real life.

Heated Rivalry turned Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie into overnight stars — due in part to their steamy chemistry as closeted hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. For months, the internet couldn't stop talking about the "Hollanov" phenomenon, raving about how Williams and Storrie portrayed the characters' physical and emotional connection.

The costars struck an instant bond, and they even have matching tattoos that read "sex sells." In an interview with Vulture, Storrie addressed fan speculation about their love lives, as well as their own connection.

"For me, it doesn’t feel spicy at all — like, that’s me and my best friend," he said.

Williams also called Storrie his best friend in an interview with Deadline, saying, "We’re best friends, and we love expressing that physically. You see people who infer or assume, and you kind of have to let that go. But then again, I never wanna stop expressing the love I have for Connor physically."

Storrie has remained private about his love life. Meanwhile, Williams has been in a long-term relationship with tattoo artist Katelyn Rose Larson, who accompanied him to the Vanity Fair Oscars party.

An essential part of the Bridgerton fabric is a strong connection between its leads, and Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton had the fandom buzzing about their season 3 showings as Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton.

Over the course of their series-long plot line, the costars have developed a strong friendship. Coughlan shared with 7News Australia, "Luke and I went on such a journey together and we have such a good relationship, he's such a lovely friend, that we could talk about and have a laugh about.”

Newton told Women's Wear Daily that their "incredible relationship" makes "the days just flow" on set. Because they shared similar difficulties and joys while filming, they could support each other.

Both actors are in relationships of their own: Coughlan is dating actor Jake Dunn, to whom she has been linked since August 2024; Newton went Instagram official with his girlfriend, dancer Antonia Roumelioti, in September 2025.

Fans became obsessed with the unique dynamic between Rick and Chelsea in season 3 of White Lotus and though their relationship status is arguable, the chemistry between Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins was undeniable.

And it was only made that much more swoonworthy when Goggins posted a sweet tribute to his onscreen "partner" and the rest of the White Lotus team after the show wrapped.

"Rick + Chelsea. With the heaviest of hearts… To me, ours was a love story. It was only ever a love story, hindered by unresolved childhood trauma. We all have them… but can we move past them," he wrote on Instagram and Rick and Chelsea hive has never been the same.

In real life though, Goggins has been married to wife Nadia Conner since 2011. They share a son named Augustus, whom they welcomed the same year.

Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn

To this day, Scandal fans get a kick out of seeing Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn together because it immediately puts us back into our Olivia Pope and President Fitzgerald Grant feels.

Since the show's premiere on April 5, 2012, "Olitz" has reigned as a fan-favorite TV couple. Even after the series finale in 2018, Washington has frequently fed us #Olitz content via Instagram, posting cute videos and never-before-seen pictures on President's Day, Goldwyn's birthday, or a random Thursday when relevant hashtags start trending.

In real life, both Washington and Goldwyn are married to their long-term partners. The actress married former football player Nnamdi Asomugha in 2013, and they share three children.

Goldwyn married his wife Jane Musky in 1987, and they have two daughters.

Also making hearts flutter on #TGITs was Olivia Pope's relationship with Jake Ballard, played by Scott Foley. And while Gladiators were divided over who was best for Olivia, Washington has kept her friendships strong with both guys.

In fact, the Felicity alum surprised her at the New York premiere of her latest project, Shadow Force on May 2.

Foley has been married to fellow thespian Marika Domińczyk since 2007. They have three kids.

Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page

Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page's on-screen chemistry in Bridgerton was so fiery, fans swore up and down the two were a couple off-screen. And after playing it coy for the first part of the promotional tour for the show back in 2020, the two had to reveal that nothing was going on between them, breaking fans' hearts across the globe.

In fact, Page had been with his girlfriend Emily Brown since at least 2019, when she was spotted partying with the actor at the wrap party for Bridgerton.

And Dynevor, though she was single at the time, reportedly got engaged to actor Cameron Fuller; she was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her left finger at last year's Met Gala.

Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey

The fact that Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey are not a real-life couple is still so vexing for many, as well as a testament to how good they were at their jobs.

The two played beloved Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd on Grey's Anatomy and when the latter died in season 11, the fandom at large was so devastated, it was as if we had lost a real person.

Dempsey seems to understand the depth to which fans want his relationship with Pompeo to be real. (Well, not everyone.)

"It's always been a special relationship Ellen and I have had together in front of the screen and behind it as well," the actor told Extra TV in 2022. "I remember the first time I met her, she had a Boston accent and I'm from Maine originally, so it was very endearing. And we had that connection right away."

He also fully acknowledged how fans ship him and Pompeo, telling the outlet, "I think a lot of the success of the show is because of the chemistry and the relationship and people wanna believe in love and all of that. I meet people around the world who are wishing that we were actually really together, but she has Christopher and I have Jillian and they're incredible people so we're fortunate to have them with us."

Pompeo has been married to Chris Ivery since 2007 and they have three children, while Dempsey married Jillian in 1999 and they also have three children.

Joseph Morgan and Candice Accola

Caroline Forbes and Niklaus Mikaelson's relationship on The Vampire Diaries caught fans of the show by surprise. He was a ruthless, unfeeling vampire who had everyone in town trembling at his presence. She was a high-achieving cheer captain whose defining characteristic was her compassion.

So, when it slowly turned out that Joseph Morgan's Niklaus had a little crush on Candice Accola's Caroline, the plot twist was unexpected, but so welcomed by fans of both the Vampire Diaries and its spinoff, The Originals.

In real life, Morgan did find love on the show, just not with Accola. The English actor married Persia White — who played Abby Bennett, one of the famous Bennett witches and the mother to Kat Graham's character, Bonnie. The couple wed in Jamaica in July 2014.

Accola wed Joe King of The Fray in October 2014. The pair were introduced by Nina Dobrev at the Super Bowl in 2012, got engaged the following year and were expanding their family by 2016 with the arrival of daughter Florence May. They added to their brood with the welcoming of Josephine June in Dec. 2020. (King also has two older daughters, Ava and Elisa, from a previous marriage.)

In May 2020, Accola filed for divorce after nearly seven years of marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences." In 2023, she hard-launched her relationship with Steve Krueger on Instagram. Krueger previously starred in The Originals, with Morgan.

Dan Levy and Noah Reid

While Schitt's Creek fans got a kick out of seeing the laid-back Patrick come into contact with the chaos that is David Rose, it wasn't until Reid's character sang that heartfelt rendition of Tina Turner's Simply the Best to Levy's character in season 4 that love for these two reached new heights.

And while our hearts screamed "Yay, David," for the onscreen couple, offscreen, Reid and Levy were never in a relationship.

Levy is uber private about his romantic life, but Reid revealed on Instagram that he tied the knot with fiancée Clare on July 25, 2020. The pair welcomed a son in the summer of 2022.

Ross and Rachel. Rachel and Ross. When it comes to onscreen couples that were meant to be, Ross and Rachel will go down in history as one of the GOATs.

Apparently, some of that chemistry was real as both David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston admitted to having crushes on each other during the first season of Friends.

Nothing ever happened between the two of them, they insisted, as Aniston went on to marry Brad Pitt in 2000 before their divorce in 2005. The actress is currently dating hypnotist Jim Curtis.

In 2011, Schwimmer welcomed daughter Cleo with his then-wife, Zoë Buckman. The two were married in 2010 but divorced in 2017.

Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski

John Krasinski enjoyed being Jenna Fischer's onscreen love so much, when the show ended, he pulled a sweet stunt that was so Jim Halpert-coded, it makes die-hard The Office fans well up today.

On her podcast Office Ladies — which she co-hosts with former co-star Angela Kinsey — Fischer revealed what was written in the note that Jim Halpert stole back out of the teapot he got for Pam Beesly in the “Christmas Party” episode in season 2. In that episode, Pam doesn't find out about the note, but she learns about it in season 9 and finally gets to read it.

The message Fischer read on-camera wasn't a prop, though: It was a personal note from Krasinski, thanking Fischer for all the time they had spent together bringing Pam and Jim to life.

“In that episode in season 9, I believe Greg [Daniels] suggested to John that he write a personal message from himself to me just saying what our time together on The Office meant to him,” Fischer recalled.

"So I’m on camera, and I open up this note that John’s written me, and I just start crying, I just start bawling,” Fischer said, adding, “the first take was probably not usable.”

“It was the sweetest note,” Fischer shared. “And you know on camera, Pam says, ‘I’ll never say what it said, but just know it was perfect.' Well I’ll never say what John wrote, but I will say, just know it was perfect.”

In real life, Fischer and Krasinski have also found love. The former has been married to husband Lee Kirk since 2010 and they share two kids. Krasinski wed fellow actor Emily Blunt in 2010 and they have two daughters.

Lauren Graham and Scott Patterson

Perhaps no other onscreen couple perfected the art of a slow burn quite like Lorelai Gilmore and Luke Danes. With their quick banter and palpable chemistry, by the time these two kissed in season 4 of Gilmore Girls, fans were on the edge of their seats.

Though Lorelai and Luke sailed off into the sunset together, in real life, Graham and Patterson were only ever friends and great coworkers.

Graham dated former Parenthood co-star Peter Krause for 12 years before the two went their separate ways in 2023.

Patterson married wife Kristine Saryan — who had two small roles on Gilmore Girls before they were an item — in 2014, and they welcomed son Nicholas the same year.
