Paramount+ announced in October 2025 that Lioness was getting a third season
The spy thriller series — created by Taylor Sheridan — stars Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldaña

Lioness is returning for an action-packed third season.
The spy thriller show on Paramount+, created by Taylor Sheridan, was renewed for a season 3 less than one year after the second season’s finale debuted. The series starring and executive produced by Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldaña follows the titular undercover CIA program, which acts as “the tip of the spear in the agency’s war on terror.”
“There’s an enormous amount of action in this show,” Kidman told PEOPLE about her role in the espionage series. “We [Kidman and Saldaña] both had to work really hard, because they would share this fantastic dialogue, and you want to deliver on that. But it’s also very physical and demanding.”
Filming wrapped in March 2026, and in June, Paramount+ announced that Lioness season 3 will premiere on Aug. 2. Days before the season premiere, Paramount+ released a final preview for the episodes ahead.

When was Lioness season 3 announced?

On Oct. 1, 2025, Paramount+ announced the spy thriller series had been renewed for a season 3, 10 months after the season 2 finale aired.
The streaming service shared the news in a post on Instagram, featuring a compilation of clips from the show’s second season.
“The hunt is far from over. #Lioness is coming back for season 3! 🦁,” the caption read.
Who is in the cast of Lioness season 3?

The series’ leads, Kidman and Saldaña, will return to their respective roles as CIA supervisor Kaitlyn Meade and Lioness lead Joe McNamara, according to Paramount+’s Sneak Peak.
A few weeks after season 3 was announced, production kicked off with Kidman and Saldaña posing with other cast members on set, including James Jordan, LaMonica Garrett, Austen Hébert, Laysla De Oliveira, Genesis Rodriguez and Jill Wagner. Joining the show as a series regular is Ian Bohen.

“The Lioness family is back! Season 3 is now in production,” an Instagram post from the series’ official account read.
Is there a trailer for Lioness season 3?
The final trailer for Lioness season 3 arrived on July 27, days before the season premiere.
Along with plenty of high adrenaline action scenes, the preview revealed that Joe will be sharing more with her family about her job and the dangers that come with it as she continues her fight to defend the country.
“This isn’t the end of a fight. It’s the start of one. Are you up for it?” Kaitlyn says to Joe, who replies, “I’m up for it.”

Lioness season 2 saw Joe and her team mobilize to help a member of Congress who had been kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel.
During the season, Alvaro Carrillo’s niece Josie (Rodriguez) was also recruited to become the new Lioness, and Cruz (De Oliveira) returned to the group to help bring their mission to fruition.

Lioness season 3 wrapped filming in Fort Worth, Texas, in March 2026, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Three months later, Paramount+ revealed that Lioness season 3 will premiere on Aug. 2, 2026.
