Singer Barry Manilow says he's on the mend.
After multiple struggles, the music icon says in the teaser for his new interview with *Good Morning America**'s *Chris Connelly that his health has improved.
"I'm doing good. I'm doing good," the singer told Connelly when asked how he's doing. "It took longer than I thought it was gonna take to get past this lung cancer thing."
Manilow added, "I didn't know about pneumonia. I was in ICU for seven days, because they couldn't grasp this pneumonia that was just about killing me."
The "Copacabana" and "Mandy" artist shared with fans in December that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer for which he would need surgery. He said then that it had been found early.
"As many of you know I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks," he explained on social media. "Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK."

They had found a "cancerous spot" on his left lung that needed to be removed, but he said he wouldn't need chemo or radiation. Doctors predicted it would take Manilow a month to recover, so he postponed dates on his farewell tour.
He explained in February that he was still struggling, after a "very depressing visit" to his surgeon. Manilow said he was unable to sing more than three songs in a row, despite rehab.

The whole situation turned out to be a "nightmare," he told PEOPLE in March.
The surgery was intense — one of the two lobes of his lungs was removed — and he spent, yes, seven days in the hospital recovering.
"This made me stop and think about: 'Have I done what I wanted to do, and have I made people happy? Have I been a good friend?'" Manilow told the magazine. "All of those cornball things that I've read for all of my life, I started to think about that, too. It really did stop me in my tracks."
He was happy to discover the answers to all of the questions were yes.
"And as a matter of fact, there are more yeses than I ever thought," he said.
Manilow's website now lists tour dates through January and his new album, *What A Time*, is out June 5.
His full interview with Connelly airs Monday on ABC's *Good Morning America*.
