Chrissy Teigen is asking her followers to settle an age-old debate: low-rise or high-rise?
In the midst of a resurgence in low-rise pants, the entrepreneur and TV personality, 40, took to Instagram to ask if she can pull off the trend. In a clip shared on Thursday, July 30, Teigen is seen wearing a black button-down vest and matching black trousers.
“Okay, I am late on this, but I am a high-rise girl, but I’m liking low now,” she said as she adjusted her pants to sit lower on her hips. “Is that cool? I’m 40. Don’t forget I’m 40.”
“Is this me?” she asked as she pulled her pants up higher, before pulling them low again and asking, “Or is this me?”
In the caption of the post, the star pleaded, “HAS THE LOW RISE SHIP SAILED FOR ME BE HONEST I CAN TAKE IT!!!”
Most of the commenters on the post agree that Teigen can pull off both, but high-rise might suit her a little better.
“High Rise all the way 🫶🏻 You can rock both but every time I see low rise I get immediate lower back pain 😬😅,” one wrote.
Another shared, “Either but I like the high…unless you’re clubbing, is that a thing? Do people club? Either looks great on you.”

A third assured Teigen that her age doesn’t matter. “40 has nothing to do with it, you can absolutely do low with the right cut. But whatever you’re comfortable in is what’s best. No one looks good when they’re uncomfortable,” they wrote.

Teigen recently spoke to PEOPLE about turning 40 last November.
“I think there was a shift that happened definitely at 40,” Teigen shared ahead of leading a conversation at the Girl Scouts Unite event in Washington, D.C., in July. “It was like all the lights turned on, and I stopped feeling kind of like a little kid trapped inside like an adult body or something.”
She continued, “I’ve really put a lot more grace into myself than I ever have. So I will say 40 feels like a good year for a lot of self-reflection.”
During her fireside chat at Girl Scouts Unite, an annual event drawing scouts from all over the United States and abroad, Teigen addressed the ways in which she resists both internal and external expectations to be perfect.
“As you get older, you kind of understand that you don’t really understand very much,” she told PEOPLE. “I think always being curious and keeping an open mind and always being willing to learn and grow has been so beneficial to me to understand that humans are all just a bunch of wacky characters on this planet trying to do the best we can at all times.”
