- In a touching social media post, Jame Lee recounted growing apart from her older sister and coming back together on her wedding day.

- "I miss her today but am buoyed by the knowledge that she is at peace," the *Halloween* actress added.

Jamie Lee Curtis is reminiscing about a key moment in her relationship with her late sister, Kelly Lee Curtis.

One day after announcing the death of her older sister, the* Freaky Friday* actress penned a touching tribute to her Kelly, recounting a particularly meaningful memory.

"In 1984 on December 17, in the evening before my wedding, my sister, Kelly, who was my maid of honor, came to my apartment and slept over," Curtis began the Sunday post. "Our friend, Suzanne Tenner came and made a portrait of the sisters before I got married. She sent me this contact sheet today in condolence for the loss of my beautiful sister."

The post was accompanied by a contact sheet featuring several photographs of the sisters posing together on the ground. Curtis went on to share that her wedding marked a turning point in their relationship, in which they became closer than ever and remained so for the rest of their lives.

"My sister and I were close as children but also had that sibling competition for divorced parent's attention and love," she continued. "We were wildly different and lived apart for many years, but she came back to be with me at my wedding and never really left again."

Curtis added that Kelly ultimately became an "integral part" of her "family structure," concluding, "I miss her today but am buoyed by the knowledge that she is at peace."

Kelly, the eldest daughter of their parents Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, died Saturday at 69. Jamie Lee did not provide a cause of death when she announced the news, but noted that her sister passed peacefully "in her home."

Born in Santa Monica in 1956, Kelly made her screen debut as a baby in 1958's *The Vikings*, which starred both of her parents. As she grew older, she opted to study business at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and did not return to screen acting until years later. As an adult, she appeared alongside her younger sister in the 1983 comedy *Trading Places *and worked as her assistant on* Freaky Friday, Christmas With the Kranks, *and *You Again*.

Kelly would play a few more roles herself, appearing on *The Sentinel, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, The Equalizer, Hunter, Silk Stalkings, LateLine, *and* Judging Amy.*

She also directed a handful of projects, including 2018 documentary *Marby Jets Are Go, *about an Australian high school track team, and *The Night She Came Home*, an hourlong documentary featured on the *Halloween* DVD that chronicled Jamie's appearance at a horror convention in Indianapolis.

In announcing her sister's death, Jamie Lee dubbed Kelly her "first friend and lifelong confidant."

She added, "She was jaw-droppingly beautiful and a talented actress… She will be remembered for her loving generosity, fierce opinions, endless curiosity, unique style, and her powdered, almond, crescent cookies at Christmas, hence her name, Auntie Cookie."
