Kate Middleton, her husband Prince William, and their three children made a joint appearance at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on August 1.

The princess wore a white sweater with nautical stripes, paired with a white skirt and forest green blazer.

Charlotte wore a white sundress, while William, George, and Louis wore shirts in white and blue.

There are a few styling formulas that just scream Kate Middleton. A perfectly tailored coat dress. A clean A-line skirt. A sharp blazer. And, of course, a classic horizontal Breton stripe. For her latest outing, Kate embraced her penchant for the French girl staple print—and added a few of her other signature touches while she was at it.

Kate appeared in the stands at day nine of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on August 1 alongside her husband Prince William and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. It was their first family outing since Trooping the Colour in June.

For the family outing, Kate returned to her trusty stripe with a white sweater with thick black horizontal stripes. She paired the classic piece with a white pleated skirt and a deep forest green tailored blazer. She completed the look with a delicate pair of drop pearl earrings and her signature side-parted curled hair style.

Back in 2024, InStyle explored Kate’s love of the nautical stripe. “Whether it’s a top or a jumper, the Breton acts as somewhat of a comfort blanket for Catherine,” Clemmie Fieldsend, fashion editor at The Sun told us. “It’s become a uniform for her, which means when she wears it she’ll instantly feel confident and at ease, especially through difficult times. It’s also a reminder of consistency, not only for Kate, but for us, too. The royals, as a British consistent that we can rely on, as is a Breton top, thanks to its long historical popularity.”

As for her daughter, Charlotte, she coordinated with her mom in a white dress with fluttery sleeves and a black print of both stripes and polka dots. Meanwhile, William wore a gray suit with a pale blue shirt. George wore a white shirt and Louis wore a royal blue shirt.
