Maven Draws Scathing Response From WWE NXT Star Over ‘Sh*tty Acting’ Criticism

A war of words has broken out between former WWE star Maven and one of NXT’s fastest-rising names. Criticism of a recent character segment sparked led to a sharp response on social media.

What began as a review on YouTube has quickly turned into a personal back-and-forth that has fans talking.

Maven’s comments centered on a member of The Vanity Project. However, the response he received suggested the rookie wasn’t about to sell the criticism without firing back. If promos are meant to grab attention, this exchange certainly didn’t miss its cue.

Jackson Drake blasts Maven after YouTube criticism

The dispute started when Maven reacted to clips featuring The Vanity Project on his YouTube channel. While discussing a segment involving Jackson Drake and Myka Lockwood, the former Tough Enough winner criticized Drake’s performance. Maven described his promo delivery as “sh*tty acting.”

Drake wasted little time responding. The 22-year-old NXT star took to X. He launched a blistering attack on Maven’s WWE career, arguing that he had already made a bigger impression despite being with the company for only six months.

Jackson Drake wrote on X:

“This fossil was signed to WWE for four years. I’ve been signed for six months and my impact has already usurped his. Lmao at him calling my “sh*tty acting” when it’s 10x better than he ever was at any aspect of the industry. Until somebody asks for advice on how to be as forgettable and vanilla of a wrestler as possible, dude has nothing to offer.”

While Drake took exception to Maven’s comments, the veteran had a far different opinion of Drake’s stablemate, Myka Lockwood. Maven praised Lockwood’s upside. Maven asserted she is “one of one” and “light years ahead” of where she should be at this stage of her career. He added that he hopes WWE tells the right stories with her because she could emerge as a major asset to professional wrestling.

Whether this online exchange stays on social media or eventually finds its way into WWE programming remains to be seen. For now, The Vanity Project continues to build momentum in NXT. Nevertheless, Drake has made it clear he isn’t backing down from criticism without throwing a verbal receipt — proving that, at least on this occasion, he wasn’t willing to simply take the pin.
