Prince Louis showed off his playful personality while marking a major milestone on August 1.
The 8-year-old joined his family at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, marking his first-ever major sporting event appearance.
Louis was spotted making silly faces as he sat in the stands with Kate Middleton, Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte.
Kate Middleton and Prince William were the proudest parents as their youngest child celebrated a big milestone: Attending his first-ever major sporting event with his family. Prince Louis was on his best behavior as he joined his big brother Prince George and big sister Princess Charlotte at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games on August 1, but true to form, the 8-year-old couldn’t resist stealing the show with some of his signature silly faces.

Louis’s hilarious antics at past events—a refreshing departure from the royal family’s typical propriety—has endeared him to fans, whether he’s showing off his dance moves at the Trooping the Colour or teasing his older siblings. And on Saturday, the youngest Wales child’s personality shone through as he enjoyed an action-packed outing with his entire family to Scotland.

Just weeks after missing Wimbledon, Louis couldn’t contain his excitement as he watched cyclists compete at Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome. The young prince—who stood out from the rest of his navy blue-clad family members with a bright blue collared polo shirt—could be seen opening his mouth wide in shock at one point during the competition. In another photo, Louis appeared to playfully grimace as he watched the competitors while sitting next to Kate and George in the stands.

Despite being the same age as George and Charlotte when they made their Wimbledon debuts, Louis was notably absent from the Royal Box at this year’s competition. The royal family hasn’t shared the reason why Louis didn’t attend, but it could have been due to the U.K. heat wave—or, according to royal expert Robert Jobson, the conduct expected at Wimbledon.
“Wimbledon is a grown-up day out,” Jobson told Cosmopolitan U.K. “The Royal Box is full of stars, and a certain decorum is expected. Stillness. Silence between points. Hours of it. A five setter asks for patience most adults struggle to find.”
“There is no exile here,” Jobson added. “[Louis] has not been kept from the limelight. His parents have never hidden him away and they are not about to start. My sense is that it was felt he was a little young to sustain it, and that he was almost certainly doing something he enjoys a great deal more. His time will come. Soon, I’d say.”
