Nick Reiner will not appear in court on accusations he murdered his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, until he is medically cleared.
Rob and Michele were killed in their home in Los Angeles on the afternoon of Sunday, Dec. 14. Sources tell PEOPLE that the couple were found by their daughter Romy, according to sources who spoke to family members.
Nick is suspected of murder and is being held without bail at Los Angeles' Twin Towers Jail. His attorney, Alan Jackson, told reporters in a Los Angeles courthouse that his client has still not been cleared to come to court.
Prior to his arrest, Nick was questioned by the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Division.
The Los Angeles Fire Department was called to a home to provide medical aid, at about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Sources said the victims found at the scene were Rob and Michele.
The night before he was found dead, Rob and Nick allegedly got into a “very loud argument” at a Christmas party hosted by Conan O'Brien, PEOPLE previously reported.
“Nick was freaking everyone out, acting crazy, kept asking people if they were famous,” one source said.
Rob and Michele met while he was directing When Harry Met Sally. The couple married in 1989. the year the film was released.
They had three children together, including Nick.

Rob directed a number of films that have since come to be regarded as classics, including This Is Spinal Tap (1984), Stand By Me, The Princess Bride (1987), and A Few Good Men (1992), among others. He broke into Hollywood starring on the legendary sitcom All in the Family.
Rob was the son of legendary comedian Carl Reiner, who died in 2020 at the age of 98.
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner," the Reiner family said in a statement to Variety. "We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time."
